Spring Basics

Spring Basics

Spring is here!

One of my favorite things about living in New England is being able dressing for all 4 seasons. My only tip in surviving the rather bipolar weather is layering your outfit! Now that Spring is starting to show its sunny and warm face, it’s time to start taking off a layer or two. That said, I want to share some of my Spring wardrobe must haves!

First I should start by saying that I love shopping around for a good deal and making my money stretch as much as it can. My go-to stores are Zara, H&M, Nordstrom Rack, Marshalls/TJ Maxx. All are great for finding your basics like t-shirts, jeans and even affordable accessories. I like searching through the unorganized chaos of stores like Nordstrom Rack for the more unique designer pieces found at a great price.

Every closet needs staple pieces and for Spring I highly recommend finding a t-shirt you love the fit of and buying 3 colors. My go to - white, gray & black. Because the t’s will most likely not be worn alone (hello layers) I love picking up cheap ones! Zara has a great fitted T-shirt for $13. Check out the link! Basic T-Shirt.

I love a good boyfriend jean… which has now transitioned to “Mom” Jeans. Can’t say I hate the name! I’m digging any that are high waisted and distressed. You can dress up or down this style of jean with a pair of heels with a punch of color or a simple pair of Converse. Both Zara and H&M have great options at affordable prices. For more of a splurge I am a huge fan of Joes Jeans and love the way every pair I try on fit my body type. Check out my picks from all three brands below:

Have you seen the new Danielle Jean designed by Danielle of WeWoreWhat ? I’m obsessed with the button up detail and high waist. The vintage jean comes in three different colors and I have my eye on the light wash as soon as it is back in stock. Thats right, Danielle sold out within the first hour of her collaboration launch with Joe’s Jeans. Ok hot pants.

For a more unique pant addition to your closet I highly recommend an overall and a pair of pleather or vegan leather leggings! Most of you inquired about overalls recently seen on my IG feed so I am including a link to them below! I love wearing these overalls during playdates with Sammy, trips to the farmers market, and even Sunday brunch with the gals. As for the pleather leggings, you will want to invest in a good pair. I have found many to be either extremely thin offering no support or warmth or ones that quickly fade and even rub off on clothing and furniture so I have you covered. I found a glorious pair at AllSaints recently that are so worth the money. High waisted for a good tummy hold and think for overall support and long wear and tear… take a look!

Now onto the spring layering must haves! I love a good sweatshirt so I’ve found two that fit the mold with totally different prices ranges. I have both of them and love the cheap one just as much as the splurge!

I have been on the search for the perfect duster.. Ideally one that acts almost like a wrap with a belt to synge the waistline. Below are a few I love!

Last but not least is my all time favorite piece… a Jumpsuit. It’s the easiest one and done deal a mom on the go can ask for! I wish I could pin every single one I see but I need to get on with my day and you need to get on to shopping so here are some of my favorites!

I kept my first style blog extremely short and sweet to offer a baseline of basics for every style, shape and size to build off of. Adding accessories to any of these pieces can really bring out your shining personality! Let me know your thoughts! Better yet, show me how you styled these basic pieces!
