Paint the Town Red
Kennebunkport Resort Collection
Anywhere in Maine is a destination all should seek so I was instantly delighted to get involved with Kennebunkport’s month long celebration of love with Paint the Town Red curated by Kennebunkport Resort Collection. The Kennebunkport Resort Collection is a wonderful collection of nine inns, hotels and resort properties in the Kennebunkport area. All offering a unique stay with creative design, style, and architecture. Guests of any of these nine properties will experience extraordinary guest service and personalized attention to detail all while striving to make the experience, positively memorable. I have had the pleasure of indulging in experience with a few of the hotels from the collection so I was excited to learn that my stay would be with the Boathouse Waterfront Hotel & Restaurant.
The Boathouse Waterfront Hotel & Restaurant is located in the heart of the port with ultimate oceanfront views. You are literally in the best coastal location being steps away from shops & some of the best dining. Not to mention lobster rolls! In the summer time the streets are bustling with locals and visitors basking in the oceanfront scenery and warmth. However, as you my viewers and readers, are about to find out, the best time to visit Kennebunk is in February.
The town settles and awaits the colder months as the streets become more quiet and the daylight sets earlier. No lines, no fear of fully reserved restaurants or hotels... This my friends is what I call blissful relaxation. The month of February is a celebration of love and the Kennebunkport resort collection has craftily taken advantage of the ample opportunity to bring the city to life and warm it with love. Involving the town’s incredible hotels, resorts and restaurants, Paint the Town Red invites you to join in festivities throughout the month of February with your loved one(s).
Let’s explore my time with PTTR
I first arrived early afternoon at The Boathouse Waterfront Hotel & Restaurant to check in and help with Paint the Town Red PR. Upon first impression I knew I would love everything about The Boathouse. Wrapped with windows letting in the sunlight reflecting and glistening into the main lobby and restaurant space, I immediately felt happy to be there. With touches of nautical interior and walls of fine wines, this was certainly the spot to be all year round especially with a deck their size offering the best seat in the house no matter where you sit. The front desk was extremely knowledgeable & professional with welcoming me to the hotel. A key card was slid over and up I went to view my guest room.
Just based on the location I knew none of the 25 guests rooms would disappoint with oceanfront or town views. I opened my door and yet again sunlight streamed in from the oversized windows and private balcony doors. Bright whites, elegant accents, cuddledown bedding and turkish bath linens added to the nautical ambiance. I, of course, heading straight for the french doors and opened them to crisp air thataccompanied the private balcony with sweeping views of both the small towns charming streets and waterfront. I think I’ll stay….forever. However, this isn't a dream for long and It was time to explore the Paint the Town Red festivities.
It was off to the Igloo Ice Lounge located at Kennebunkport Inn. Now, this is a trendy thing going on right now across the northern states so it’s definitely something you want to knock off the bucket list and brag about. Located on the outdoor deck of the Inn, you will find cozy Igloos (no, not made out of ice. Think tent!) that you can reserve and host your loved one, closest friends and/or family members as you sip signature cocktails with the modern luxury of a space heater! Equipped with warm blankets and plush throw pillows, you have everything you need to stay long enough to stargaze! Just don't fall asleep out there, that’s what the Inn is for.
It was time to head inside to enjoy dinner at The Burleigh. Instantly warming from the dim lights, dark wood accents and rich colors I was ready to cozy up and delight in the Kennebunkport Inn’s onsite restaurant dishes. A few facts if you are interested in visiting at your leisure, The Burleigh offers signature cocktails, thoughtfully selected wines, daily happy hour, and a dinner menu inspired by the seasonal harvest. You can find live music there on thursday, friday and saturday evenings. When the Igloos are put away and the flower pots begin to bloom you can enjoy cocktails outdoors on the patio or the sun terrace with views of the river. If you do happen to visit The Burleigh soon I highly suggest the following off their current winter menu! Fried brussels sprouts, barbacoa tacos, Maine mussels with the Thai green curry, and the fried short rib. That should fill you, right?...
Time was flying, as it usually does when you are enjoying yourself. It was time for me to head back over to the Boathouse as I had the honor of cutting the tie to the Paint the Town Red walkway and initiate the month long event! How grateful I felt to represent Maine as my fellow Mainers & visitors lined up to start a night of music, dancing and delicious foods! As soon I cut the big red ribbon, ok… it might have been torn down, opps!, the crowd swarmed in and the FROSTED event was kicked off. FROSTED, a freezing good time, included a beautiful outdoor ice bar surrounded by heat lamps for your comfort. Inside the main dining room began to fill with guests as the music turned up. Surrounded with delicious bites, local cupcakes and even a smores bar, you 100% had everything you needed to have a good time.
I give props to the overly enthusiastic DJ who truly knows how to get the crowd going. The dance floor was hoppin’ (is that even cool to say?). Ahem, the dance floor was wicked lit. After you became footloose exhausted from his sick beats you could venture over to the photo booth to capture priceless memories. The night also included signature cocktails, treats and more. I was absolutely impressed with the turnout and overall seamless event to kick off the Paint the Town Red festivities.
If there’s one thing us Mainers know how to do, it’s to completely enjoy a moment with loved ones as we welcome in new friends around us. I highly recommend if you have no Valentines day plans or plans for the upcoming weeks in February, to pay a visit to Kennebunkport, Maine and take part in any of the upcoming events. They will not disappoint. For your convenience you will find a link below to the upcoming events that include sushi making demonstration, oyster shucking class and more! I am also providing a link to the Boathouse Waterfront Hotel & Restaurant because you will want to make a trip of it! Treat your loved one and yourself this Valentine's!
